Terms of Service

1. Service Description

bySentence is an English-learning application and website. On iOS, you read books sentence by sentence with aligned audio and AI-powered explanations. On our website (bysentence.app), we offer live demos of our technology — including Voice Clone, which reads text in a voice that sounds like yours.

2. Subscription Terms (iOS App)

Free Tier: Unlimited reading, audio playback, and word lookup. Up to 5 sentence explanations per day (resets at midnight Japan time).

Premium: Unlimited sentence explanations and offline reading. Monthly or yearly plans. Pricing shown in the App Store at purchase.

Free Trial: New subscribers may receive a 7-day free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, you will be charged.

Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

Refunds: All purchases are processed by Apple. For refunds, contact Apple Support.

3. Voice Clone Terms (Website)

By uploading a voice sample to our website, you represent and warrant:

  • The voice in your recording is your own. Uploading another person's voice without their consent is prohibited.
  • You will not use the generated audio to impersonate any person, commit fraud, or create defamatory or misleading content.
  • Generated audio is marked as AI-generated in its metadata. You agree not to strip this metadata or misrepresent the audio as real.
  • You may not upload content that is illegal, harmful, or violates others' rights.

We reserve the right to refuse service and delete content that violates these terms.

4. Content

Books available in bySentence are provided for personal, non-commercial educational use. AI-generated explanations, translations, and cloned audio are intended as learning aids and may contain inaccuracies.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: reverse engineer the app, use automated tools to access the service, redistribute content, or attempt to circumvent subscription restrictions or rate limits.

6. Disclaimer

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated content.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service.

8. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
